Entire sourcing and procurement process digitalized to meet the challenges of recovery and constant growth.

Milan, September 07, 2021 – The Italian Exhibition Group (IEG) is rapidly moving towards the completion of the digitalization of its entire procurement cycle, for which it selected JAGGAER, the multinational leader in spend management. IEG is a leading company in the events sector and an organizer of business-to-business trade fairs in six categories: Food & Beverage; Jewelry & Fashion; Tourism & Hospitality; Wellness, Sports & Leisure; Lifestyle & Innovation; and Green & Technology. In recent years, IEG has started a significant expansion process abroad in the United States, United Arab Emirates, Mexico, China and India.

“The digitalization process undertaken in this specific area was fundamental to managing purchases during the pandemic, because it allowed us to pursue all activities remotely while adhering to our unchanged commitments in each of our offices, both in terms of procedural compliance and traceability,” commented Graziano Alessio, IEG Group Purchasing Manager (CPO), regarding this area led by Mario Vescovo, Site Executive and Director of Operations at the Vicenza Expo and Convention Center. “With JAGGAER, we have defined solutions to meet our procurement needs, developing homogeneous processes to support company growth, efficiency and compliance, and with increasingly stringent requirements. It is essential to identify the products and suppliers most suitable for each specific purchasing need and make them available to those who place the orders. With the JAGGAER solution, we have created a compact, rigorous and cross-functional team, thanks to a system that can also be accessed remotely with any device and is capable of guaranteeing precise control of every single phase. The platform has proved to be user-friendly and flexible, and this has facilitated its adoption by the internal users and suppliers involved, who are increasingly convinced by the solution,” Alessio added.

IEG closed the 2019 financial year with consolidated total revenues of € 178.6 million, an EBITDA of € 41.9 million and a consolidated net profit of € 12.6 million.  In 2019, IEG organized or hosted a total of 48 trade fairs and 190 conferences.

JAGGAER has worked with IEG on the digitalization of the procurement process since 2019, replicating the new procedural system defined by the customer and integrating it entirely within the platform, supporting the group’s strong growth. From the initial need to standardize the procedures of the two companies in Rimini and Vicenza, they moved on to subsequent international collaborations, up to the rewriting of business protocols adequate to the task of raising standards. The process also required increased commitment from those in charge of the company to fulfill these crucial tasks in all phases of purchase and management.

“We are very satisfied with the work we have done together in recent months,” commented Daniele Civini, Head of Sales of JAGGAER Italy. “We reflected IEG’s great attention to innovation, careful qualification and digitalization that permeates their entire approach to the tasks. Starting from the analysis of the status quo and the requirements, we worked towards the objective of structuring the best digital procurement innovation path with our JAGGAER ONE platform. Efforts that have proved fruitful, taking advantage of the completeness of our source-to-pay technology and, at the same time, its flexibility, which enabled customization to the world in which IEG operates.”

The final goal of IEG’s Purchasing Department is not far removed from that of JAGGAER: “It is a question of achieving a system that integrates the entire process, from the qualification and selection of suppliers to the negotiation and management of contracts,” Graziano Alessio emphasized. “We have progressively extended the ability to issue purchase requests from ‘pre-negotiated’ catalogs to all internal users, so as to accommodate the repetition of many purchases where the variables are volumes or destination locations. We have thus created the roadmap for issuing more complex purchase requests, which require a contribution from the various departments that contribute to the purchase depending on the type of good and/or service to be acquired. All of this is always within the framework of procedures customized to the specific needs of the exhibition sector. Innovation is transforming IEG’s way of managing the entire purchasing cycle, with the aim of raising the levels of efficiency and quality of the processes, while guaranteeing adherence to the governance required in the stock market listing.”
