COMMENT 1: Excellent points all the way around, Michael Lamoureux, Robert Meza, and Marc Stickdorn!

Here is an excerpt from a recent post titled “Are you chasing solutions or solving problems? (Part 1 of 3)” – https://bit.ly/3FBnFRr

“When organizations make the mistake of leading with technology, they are bending their people and processes around an equation-based model approach in which the tech is the driver for success.

When you lead with people and process understanding – an agent-based model, technology moves from a functional driver to a problem-solving tool that streamlines and delivers efficiencies and tangible results.”

The only thing I don’t understand is that after 40-plus years we are still having this same discussion.

COMMENT 2: Jon W. Hansen, 💯agree that leading with technology is the wrong and short sighted approach. But it’s what the solution providers too often push. After all, many of them see themselves as technology providers not solution providers!

COMMENT 3: Jon W. Hansen the reason is it hasn’t been solved. The solution isn’t binary. It isn’t one or the other. From detailed recent research on this phenomenon, I have come to the conclusion that most organisations, trip, stumble and fall in to new technology. They fail to understand their own capability (s), are led by consultancies or integrators who aren’t interested in client. There are a lot of nuances.

COMMENT 4: Too many times we see RFPs focused on individual features garnered from 100 users which will only result in a cumbersome solution that also fails again to get the adoption.

Focusing on the desired outcomes is the place to start.

This will result in a platform that not only becomes adopted but also allows the company to achieve its objectives both within and outside procurement.

COMMENT 5: Why are we still reporting that exercise is good for you? That you should go to bed at a decent time?

Simple rules do not equate to easy rules to follow unfortunately…
