In 2017 – and the years previous to that, ISM and ThomasNet asked me to cover their Top 30 Under 30 Rising Stars program.

During that time, I had the opportunity to talk with many enthusiastic procurement professionals who were energized and enthusisatic about joining our industry. In short, rather than just “falling into procurement,” they chose to pursue it as a career.

Here we are in 2024 having come through a global pandemic into a world of volatilty and uncertainty and I couldn’t help but wonder where are these bright stars today?

To answer that question, I thought I would do a little research to find out where they are now, and tag them to see their view of the chosen career path on the other side of one of our professions most tumultuous and demanding periods.

Here are the Top 5 from the list of 30:

(2017) Charlotte de Brabandt – Category Associate, Johnson & Johnson

(2024) Dr. Charlotte Anabelle de Brabandt – Digital Futurist – Head of IT Partner Management & Head of IT Governance US, ZF Group

(2017) Mitchell Agee – Manager – Supply Chain Contracts, The Boeing Company

(2024) Mitchell Agee – Director – Supply Chain Management, Lockheed Martin

(2017) Manuel Allendesalazar – Forecasting Business Manager – Global Supply Chain Center of Excellence, Teva Pharmaceuticals

(2024) Manuel Allendesalazar – Assoc Director Demand Planning US – Teva Pharmaceuticals

(2024) Ajay Kumar A – Program Management Office Lead – Global Supply Chain Program Management, Dell Technologies

(2017) Neta Berger – Supply Chain Program Manager, Google

Here Are The Four Questions I Would Ask Them Today

  1. Looking back to 2017, in what ways has your procurement career met your expectations in 2024?
  2. Since 2017, what has been the biggest challenge you have faced, and how did you overcome it?
  3. If there was a 30 Under 30 list in 2024, what advice would you give to the winners?
  4. What advice would you give to any procurement professional who is just starting their career?

What questions would you ask them?
