EDITOR’S NOTE: A few days ago, I shared a post on LinkedIn regarding Cando Rail & Terminals‘ President & CEO Brian Cornick‘s success with introducing AI into his organization.

The resulting comment activity took a very interesting turn when I introduced Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff‘s talk about not wanting to see an “AI Hiroshima” – https://cnb.cx/3SDBsOL. I also tagged Benioff’s and my shared 1st-level connections on LinkedIn, which added another dimension to the discussion.

I would strongly suggest you use the above “shared a post” link to provide your thoughts. In the meantime, below is my most recent comment.

Rob Morris, great points. Given the “delicate” balance between AI being a blessing and it being a curse, you made me think of the following post by Dawn Tiurahttps://bit.ly/3FTmzRW

Here is a specific excerpt from that article to which I would like to know your thoughts:

“According to the Bloomberg article, a “key sticking point in the negotiations” has been ship owners’ and port authorities’ proposals to “upgrade their use” of technology.

In fairness to management, the 2021 World Bank’s Container Port Performance Index ranked the California ports at Long Beach and Los Angeles last at “369 and 370, respectively.” Automation is the answer to many of the bottleneck and inefficiency problems the ports are experiencing. However, and it is not a baseless concern, automation will likely cost many people their jobs.”

Besides, Dawn, I am tagging the SIG|ORG team for their thoughts as well Mary Zampino Destinee Jewell Geoff Talbot Nick Fratto Purvee Kondal, NACD.DC, Kellogg MBA 🇺🇸🇮🇳 Kaila Flynn Michael van Keulen Ali Music

Also, tagging Bloomberg NewsAugusta Saraiva and Josh Eidelson regarding their May 25th, 2022 article – and our mutual connections Tom Craig and Raj Sharma for their thoughts on AI threats versus benefits.
