Is there a “missing circle” in the “Procurement Sweet Spot” graphic below?

One thought that immediately comes to mind is an excerpt from an article I wrote for the Procurement Foundry blog in Dec. 2019 titled “SORRY, CHARLIE, THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE WORLD’S SEAFOOD SUPPLY CHAIN” – https://bit.ly/3uSY70e

“According to a March 2019 National Geographic article, mislabelling is a problem with 20 percent of all fish sold in restaurants, markets, and grocery stores. The mislabelled product is usually a cheaper alternative to what you think you are buying, lending credence to the belief that the “errors” are intentional rather than due to poor identification processes.” NOTE: the impact on human health was a central theme of the post.

Here we are in 2023, and the following excerpt from an article by Springer Nature Group shows how pressure is growing regarding the need for a fourth circle:

“Building a more resilient and sustainable food system requires a holistic and integrated approach, alongside proactive collaboration, to address the multiple, complex, and long-term challenges facing the wider food system.”

Madelyn Kearns‘ 2015 article in SeafoodSource and Sari Heidenreich‘s Oct. 2023 Greenpeace article suggest we still have a long way to go.

So, which of the three intersecting “procurement sweet spot” circles in David Bateman‘s image do health and welfare, sustainability, supply chain transparency, and security fit? Or do we need a fourth circle?
